Connecticut names today 'Bruce Springsteen Day'

The state of Connecticut has named today 'Bruce Springsteen Day' says Governor Jodi Rell.

The title has been given in honour of the New Jersey native who kicks off his tour tonight in the Connecticut town of Hartford, with the E Street Band, reports the Associated Press.

The band's brand new album 'Magic' was also released today, following three low-key warm-up shows in New Jersey last week.

It's the first release from Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band since 2002's 'The Rising'
Angels And Airwaves diss George Bush at Carling Weekend : Leeds Festival

Angels And Airwaves dissed George Bush today (August 26) at Carling Weekend: Leeds Festival.

Tom DeLonge's band was playing the Main Stage.

The singer said: "We have our problems in America. George Bush is a cocksucker!"

He also talked about his old band Blink 182.

Delonge said : "The last time I was here was with my old band. We made a lot of dirty jokes, and I'm not going to talk about fucking Goths just yet."

Delonge added : "I love England because of the amazing fucking rock and roll. You don't know what it was like growing up in California."

The band debuted new tracks from their forthcoming album 'I Empire'. They played the noticeably stripped down 'Lifeline' and 'Sirens'.

Biggest cheer of the set came for 'It Hurts'. Before playing it DeLonge said: "Whatever anyone tells you, you can do whatever the hell you want."
